In HR, you often support a variety of individuals and occasionally play the role of a confidant or advisor. What do you do to take care of yourself and handle the stress?

Taking mental breaks — whether by unplugging from devices or stepping outside for some fresh air.

What is your biggest piece of advice for individuals navigating the job-market?

Be sure to thoroughly research your benefits to confidently choose an employer that aligns with your needs. Inquire about the 401(k), insurance, time off, and other perks. Remember, salary is just one part of the bigger picture.

If I am interested in moving into an HR role, what training should I have?

The education and training required for a position in HR can vary based on the specific role you’re pursuing. While a bachelor's degree in human relations is typically expected, each organization may have its own requirements. We recommend shadowing a member of your HR team to gain insights into their background and daily responsibilities. Additionally, participating in leadership workshops can enhance your skill set and make you a more competitive candidate.
